How to find the terminal:

From Söderleden, it’s easy to reach the terminal. Drive on Söderleden to the Fiskebäck interchange and follow Stora Fiskebäcksvägen directly to the cargo terminal.

Cargo transport
Cargo transport should always be handled by the freight ferry from the terminal in Fiskebäck. Here, we efficiently manage general cargo using forklifts. Smaller cargo can also be sent with passenger ferries from Saltholmen, but all cargo must be manually handled there, which makes it more expensive than using the freight ferry. The freight charge is paid to the deckhand on board, who decides if the cargo can be accommodated on each trip.

Freight traffic for general cargo and utility vehicles to the southern archipelago is operated on behalf of the City Environment Administration, Gothenburg City. The cargo terminal is located in Fiskebäck Harbor, with the address: Stora Fiskebäcksvägen 200, 426 58 Västra Frölunda.

Our freight regulations include instructions on how cargo should be packaged to withstand sea transport, as well as how it should be addressed, labeled, and notified to the customer. Information about hazardous goods and how to pay for the cargo at dispatch is also provided.

Freight terms and conditions

All cargo sent with the freight ferry is subject to a fee. The freight charge is usually paid via Swish or bank card to the cargo receiver at Fiskebäck (the terminal is cashless). Frequent  customers can apply for freight credit and have the freight charge invoiced.

In the freight regulations for vehicles and cargo, you will find information on what is required for transporting vehicles to the islands. This includes details on the maximum weight of vehicles that can be unloaded at the piers, who is permitted to drive on the islands where contact persons for the island road associations should be contacted, and the regulations for hazardous materials loaded on vehicles. If an exemption is required, a valid exemption permit must accompany the vehicle.

All vehicle transports with the car ferry incur a fee. The fee is paid with a bank card or Swish to the deckhand onboard. Frequent travellers can apply for freight credit to have the fee invoiced.

There are different rates for various types of vehicles to different islands. The vehicle tariff, with a table for all islands, may seem somewhat complex. Soon, a guide will be published to help you quickly find the correct price.

On the islands, there are no public roads. The roads are private, which means there are limitations on the load they can support and thus on the size of vehicles allowed on the islands.

Each island with a permanent population has a road association (“vägförening”) that has established rules regarding which vehicles may operate on the islands. In some cases, a permit must be applied for and approved in order to drive a vehicle on the islands.

Small goods can, in some cases, be shipped with passenger ferries from Saltholmen but should primarily be sent with the freight ferry from Fiskebäck. Refrigerated goods must always be sent with the freight ferry from Fiskebäck, as passenger ferries do not have cooling compartments.

Small goods shipped with passenger ferries from Saltholmen incur a fee. The shipping fee can be paid via Swish to the deckhand aboard the vessel. If the customer has a freight credit, the shipping fee can be invoiced.

No. Please remember to collect your goods from the quays and freight areas on the islands as soon as possible. Space is limited, and we need to keep the areas clear for new deliveries. Do not leave behind packaging or other waste, so we can keep our archipelago clean and pleasant for everyone. Our responsibility for the goods ends at the unloading point at the quay.
